9 month check up
Colt's 9 month check up went pretty well. He is still a little guy in the 25th to 30th percentile in height and weight. He weighed 18.7 lbs and 27 3/4" long. He gained less than 2 lbs from his 6 month visit which made the nurse a little conserned, but when the doctor came in he wasn't worried about it. I guess Colt is so active he can't keep the weight on. The poor little guy had to get the flu shot and get tested for lead. This was a lot harder on me than his newborn shots, I guess because he has a more intense cry and moves all over the place. I had to pin him down so the nurse could give him the shot in his thigh and hold him down in my lap while the lab tech filled a vile of blood from his finger tip all while he was screaming. It was torture!!! :( Next time Daddy gets to come with me.
On a good note he is very healthy and we get to start introducing more solid foods he can feed to himself. Here is a list of some of the things he is doing.....
Waves bye bye
Is walking on his own (only for 5 ro 6 steps)
Crawling everywhere
Likes to play peek a boo ( he'll crawl around a corner and you ask "where's Colt" and he'll come crawling out with a big grin and turn around and hide again)
Babbling or baby talk
Likes to push any object that he can (the other day he rearranged all our kitchen chairs)
Dances to any tune he hears
Just learning to clap (he hits the top of his hand instead of palm to palm)

Mommy weekend
Well today is the first day I am leaving Colt to go to another city. We have left him overnight with my parents but were only a few miles away. The girls and I decided we deserved a much needed girls weekend. Keri, Amanda and I are meeting Ashleigh in Dallas for a great night out with no men or babies. We are all leaving the kiddos with their Daddies!!! Hope everything goes well :)

First steps
Colt started taking his first steps. At first it was one step and then plop on his bum. A couple days ago when Danny got home from work he stood him in front of him and Colt took 4 to 5 wobbly steps. He's only doing it when we stand him up and and have him walk to us. I have not seen him try on his own but I don't think it will be long. He crawls everywhere but prefers to be standing up on something. The only time he crawls is to get to another spot he can stand up. Guess it wont be long before I am chasing him everywhere.

Talking???
Last night Colt started making a new humming noise that sounds like he's trying to say MaMa so Danny and I mouthed MaMA, MaMa over a hundred times to him. When he woke up from his nap today he was making the same noise but a few times the sound Mama came out. Now whether he is really saying it or making noises, I can't tell. I like to think he is. :) I will try to get a video of it and let you be the judge.
